Elie Wiesel Condemns Günter Grass for “going too far”

By Carolyn Yeager

Wiesel rushes to the defense of Israel once again, proving he is always a political person ahead of being an artistic person.

Zionism has always come first for Elie Wiesel. You might even say all his writing has been in the service of Zionism, one way or another. Now a poem made public by one of Germany’s most famous novelists is causing an uproar in the Jewish/Israeli world, of which Wiesel is an integral part. The poet is Günter Grass; the poem’s title is “What Must Be Said.” It is a criticism of Israel’s nuclear capability and it’s willingness to use it against Iran.

In an article in the New York Daily News, Wiesel for the second time in the past month, speaks out on a controversy affecting Jews and Israel. While Wiesel is often portrayed as a kind of suffering saint who stays above the fray in his capacity as “teacher” and one who represents “victims of the Jewish holocaust” for the sake of greater humanity, this has never been the case in reality. He is a scrapper and a partisan in every circumstance involving Israel. Everything he does is done to advance the interests of World Jewry. This latest article makes it clear enough.

It is titled “Guenter Grass’ buried hatred comes to light.” The subtitle brings out that “He once served in the Nazi Waffen SS; today, he is attacking Israel.”

Well, that pretty much covers the Jew’s reasons why we should hate Grass. He was a Nazi! He’s been a secret Nazi, therefore a Jew-hater, all along! He is not an honest man. Therefore, ignore what he has to say … a version of “attack the messenger,” a tried and true tactic which Wiesel is not above using.

This particular spat can be seen as another chapter in the historic German-Jewish conflict between two nations that are at eternal odds with each other. The idea that these two “races” will ever overcome their inherent “unlikeness” and be able to live together is a pipe-dream. It never will be, as they are opposites. The problem with Grass’ reasoning is that he believes a reconciliation is possible, and has even been made. As long as he holds this belief he will never get it right.

* * *

The following are some highlights from what Wiesel wrote, with commentary by me. You can read the entire article by following the link above.

Wiesel: […] the German Nobel Prize-winning novelist Guenter Grass has obviously chosen to set himself up as judge over the state and people of Israel.

As we know, Elie Wiesel has since even before 1945 set himself up as judge over the nation and people of Germany. But, of course, in Wiesel’s very biased mind he has every right, while Grass has not. Grass, in the eyes of the Jews.  is a German perpetrator without any rights at all.

Wiesel: [Grass’ poem] makes the argument that Iran is not, in fact, pursuing nuclear weapons — and that Israel is bent on killing Iranians by the millions. […] How dare he? What does he know about the nuclear sciences? What moral credentials could he claim to possess in order to act as accuser of the democratic Jewish state?

Is Iran pursuing nuclear weapons? There is no evidence that it is. Further, Iran has been a peaceful nation for hundreds of years. If it did make a decision, several years down the road, to produce a nuclear weapon as a defensive measure, it has every right. Iran is a legitimate nation with an immensely long history, that joins with and follows the rules of  international legal organizations, while Israel is a rogue state that ignores and disobeys every international law.

So Wiesel’s “how dare he?” is a totally arrogant outburst of someone who’s had way too much privilege in his life … someone who has gotten away with too much. How dare Wiesel question Grass’ moral credentials. In my opinion, they are about on the same level of morality—they are both comfortable with lying—although Grass has bought into the guilt-trip leveled at Germans, while Wiesel rides the high-horse of Jewish-invented victimhood at German hands. Therefore, Grass has no permission to criticize anything Jewish and needs to be put back in his place.

Wiesel: Clearly, had the Swedish Academy known of his secret [Waffen SS membership], it would have had some difficulty awarding him the Nobel Prize.

Ha! Similarly, if the Nobel Peace Prize committee had known that Wiesel lied about being in the famous Buchenwald liberation photo (not to mention all the lies in his book Night) they would certainly have had difficulty awarding him that prize! Wiesel is skating on thin ice here, but then that is typical of him and his ingrained chutzpah.

Wiesel: [Grass’] hatred of Israel, a land founded as the homeland of the Jewish people, is in his poem. In fact, it is the poem.

The whole world is coming more and more to hate Israel. In fact, it is impossible for decent people not to hate Israel. If Israel represents what the Jewish people are, what does that tell us? Wiesel should really wake up and stop beating a dead horse.

Wiesel: Well, he isn’t the first to claim that the Jewish people’s aim is planetary destruction.  Adolf Hitler and Joseph Goebbels preceded him in that kind of propaganda.

Bring up the Hitler card, why not? It’s another tried and true tactic. But what is the Jewish people’s aim if not to own the whole world? Their rationale is sometimes given as ” to prevent their own persecution at the hands of the rest of the world.” But it is not a justification, though they think it is. Hitler and Goebbels had more justification for wanting the majority of Jews out of their country in the 1930’s, as do many Americans today, as do the Palestinians. How many nations today would just like the Jews to go away?

Wiesel: Sadly, these despicable accusations come from someone who ranked among the great intellectual minds of postwar Europe.

Grass was never a great intellectual mind. He is not a successor to Goethe and Schiller, who loved Germany and would have stood up and told the truth about her rectitude. The Jewish-controlled media portrayed Grass as great because he acted the role of the perfectly contrite post-war German. For that, he was celebrated and given every accolade. He sold out to the devil, just like Faust.

Wiesel: Iran’s ruler Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the world’s foremost Holocaust denier. Everyone who reads knows that. But not Grass.

Perhaps Grass is tired of being a holocaust believer. Maybe that will come next?  But I wouldn’t count on it because he is a leftist and their power is based on the holocaust.

Wiesel: [Grass] accuses the Israeli leader (Netanyahu), and consequently his nation, of planning mass murder against Iran—and furthermore, warns German Chancellor Angela Merkel of becoming an accomplice to this crime if she helps Israel.

This is so interesting! Wiesel has repeatedly accused (and still does) Adolf Hitler and “his nation” of planning mass murder against European Jews. The difference in his biased mind between his accusations and those of  Grass is that Germany was guilty but Israel is not. Yet there is more evidence by far of Israel’s guilt (and from 1945 onward) in wanting to murder the Germans, plus the British and the Palestinians, than of any plan by Germans to murder Jews. You don’t believe that? If so, it’s because you haven’t looked into it for yourself, but have believed Jewish-controlled media all this time.

The Israelis and Wiesel greatly fear losing German support. It is the United States that keeps German leaders like Angela Merkel in line.

Wiesel: There were times when I even felt close to [Grass]. Now I see in his hatred an abyss I shall not cross. He has gone too far.

It’s only normal practice that Wiesel “felt close” to the German writer as long as he spouted praise for Zionism and Israel, and emphasized German Guiltcharacterizing it as never-ending. Then, he was a great German! Now the slightest divergence from that stance … the smallest challenge to Israel to stop its war-mongering and bullying … is enough to create an uncrossable “abyss” between them. Günter Grass will never be forgiven. Let’s hope he will forego asking for it, or seeking it in any way, because it will never be granted him. He has “gone too far.”

UPDATE April 15, 1 pm:  I’m sure Elie Wiesel now repeats Yemach shemo  (meaning “May his name be erased”) every time his says the name of Günter Grass. Orthodox Jews add this Hebrew phrase whenever they mention the name of a great enemy of the Jewish nation past or present. Also here the best answer at this site informs us that the phrase when applied to Jesus’ name means  to exterminate  the spirit of the Christ (the Logos) and to liquidate his followers like the Jewish “Bolsheviks” did to 66 million Orthodox Christian Russians. “

This recalls to my mind the insistence of the Holocaust-believing Jews to interpret the German word ausrotten which means  “to get rid of” or “to root out” or “to eradicate” as “to exterminate“,  giving it the sole meaning of  “to murder.” Do Wiesel and other  Orthodox Jews  take the Hebrew word Yemach shemo as literally as they do German words? Something to think about.

Wiesel’s comment condemning Günter Grass for having gone “too far” is the comment of a potentially dangerous psychotic. His psychosis may well be the effect of adopting the provably wrong contents of the Kol Nidre for his plan of life, for his life-style. Cp. to this, among many others, the lives and/or texts of Spinoza, Franz Kafka, George Orwell, Benjamin H. Freedman, Bertolt Brecht……………….
So is the poem in answer to Günter Grass’s poem by Itamar-Yaoz-Kest; this one even brags with the “Samson-option”.
    Best regards

Franz Seiler is referring to the poem by Itamar-Yaoz-Kest (identified as a Holocaust survivor), published on April 11 by the Israel National News, written in response to “Günter Grass’ attack” on Israel, in which he says “I want to be a danger to the world.” It has been described as “a glimpse into unique psychotic genocidal sense of retribution.” See

Wiesel used this as an opportunity to point our attention from more important question: where is his Auschwitz tattoo?
    Do not be surprised.
It’s millenia old Jewish tactics: avoid the issue, attack messenger.

Considering Israel can do no significant damage to Iran’s nuclear program it is only reasonable to conclude it is threatening a nuclear attack.

As a Creator, I care not for Left-Wing toadies like Günter Grass, but I do admit to a smidgen of admiration for the man who bites the hand that feeds him. Looking at his situation, I see Günter Grass as another Mel Gibson (albeit without the liquid courage): Both are purveyors of the approved so-called arts, both are or were the darlings of their own field, and both until recently pleased their Semitic overlords to such a degree that they were virtually latter day “Righteous among the Nations.” As has recently been shown with Mel and the Maccabees, the Jew does not forgive The point is, whether by desire or mistake, Günter and Mel have both reached that point in their lives where the truth may not win them any friends, but neither will they come to grief for raising the ire of their former Jewish masters. I just hope that Günter has a little more gumption than Mel, and refuses to dedicate any poems to the mighty (read murdering) Maccabees.

I’m discouraged by the cant in this post that “Jews and Germans can never reconcile.” This echoes Wiesel’s own infamous paean to hatred that “Jews should retain a healthy hatred for Germans in the present day.”

No less than Germar Rudolf has published a very uplifting review of past symbiosis between the peoples (before and during World War I). I side with Rudolf in his hopes for future co-existence such as he delineates in his foreword to Dissecting the Holocaust.

To Jett Rucker: Dissecting the Holocaust came out in 1994 under an assumed name, Ernst Gauss. Rudolf at that time was young, idealistic and naïve. He also knew he had embarked on a dangerous path as a “holocaust revisionist.” He was doing his best, I’m sure, to not be called an antisemite. I don’t believe he was then or is now an antisemite. But would he write the same today? You say you “side with Rudolf” but you are speaking of something Rudolf wrote 18 years ago, under very different circumstances.

In an article by Rudolf published in the spring 2012 Journal of Inconvenient History (not dated anywhere – why not? I’m not sure when he wrote it) he compared his experience in Germany with that of the Jews who were also held in detention in the 1940’s. But that is all. He pointed out that the logic behind the “holocaust laws” is to make the “human dignity of all Jews — from then and now — depend on everyone accepting the orthodox Holocaust narrative.” This human dignity for Jews “has priority over everything else,” he said, meaning priority over dignity for Germans. Then he discussed how this denies the search for truth.

While this holocaust law is enforced by the German State, it is the Jews who demand it and it is the United States government and its military power with its strong Jewish Lobby that dictates to Germany what it must do. (Not that the liberal, anti-nationalist political parties in Germany aren’t happy to do it.) It was a Jew who reported Horst Mahler’s raised arm greeting to the legal authorities, resulting in a 13-year prison sentence for a man in his 80’s. Jews have not changed for several thousand years; there is no reconciliation with Jews if non-Jews want their dignity and true history. That is not “cant” but reality.

it is time germans and germany tell the usa and israel to drop dead, we can’t take your crap no more! Holocaust lies and lies are coming out and people are seeing the truth, israel is nothing but trouble. Look what they are doing to the palestinians.

Since you guys are talking about me and my views, permit me to make my own comments, whatever it is worth. Jett Rucker is right in assuming that my attitude has not changed. Although I am aware that many Jews are a major driving force behind the persecution machinery which made my life miserable at times, I try not to commit the flawed generalization error of “some of them nefarious, all of them nefarious.” That disastrous generalization is exactly what they have done to us Germans after the war, and I won’t do to others what I don’t want to see done to my kin. As a matter of fact, since 1994 I have had several wonderful opportunities to experience Jews who were neither hate- nor vengeful when confronted with a revisionist, but rather compromising, understanding and accommodating. Among them are a former girlfriend and part of her family. This and other experiences immunized me against any temptation of speaking of “the Jews,” as is once more exemplified by Carolyn who wrote above, “Jews have not changed for several thousand years; there is no reconciliation with Jews if non-Jews want their dignity and true history.” That’s not what I have experienced. For me the problem is Zionism, both the Jewish and the Christian variety. Christianity gives Judaism credence. Without it, the Jewish Stone Age religion would long since have disappeared. “Modern” Judaism with the Holocaust at its core is a huge brainwashing ideology for both Jews and Christians. For an elucidating documentary about how Jews are brainwashed I strongly recommend the 2009 documentary “Defamation” by Israeli documentary filmmaker Yoav Shamir (see at This makes clear that most Jews have been made mentally sick with persecution paranoia and urgently need to be liberated from their own oppressive secular ideology. Driving them even deeper into that paranoia by helping the Zionist ideologues pit Jews against Gentiles makes things only worse for all of us.

Hello Germar, and thank you for writing a comment here! You know I hold you in high esteem so you can say whatever you want. I was debating whether to leave you here in the comments or turn you into a new blog post … but the fact that what you write is not about Elie Wiesel but is definitely a comment about previous comments on one paragraph of this article decided for me to leave it here.

You say you won’t do to others what they have done to you and your kin … I understand your high resolve and really wouldn’t expect different from you. It won’t change anything though. You have never “done to them” as they have done to you, but that didn’t stop them from doing it. Naturally, a number of Jews (and more will) have shown friendship and accommodation — why wouldn’t they? Have you ever done anything to harm them? What happened to you has to be an embarrassment to all Holocaust enforcers and some see themselves as better than that. You are a well-known person who has suffered persecution, so they can say “Well, you have been persecuted as we have been. So maybe we’re even.” And if it stops you from speaking of and/or blaming “the Jews” as a group, all the better for them.

But do any of them change their mind about the Holocaust story? Do they want to see it done away with? Reconciliation means two parties forgive each other and forget the past. I am not for reconciliation if it means the Germans forget what the Jews have done to them, the torture and murder of so many millions. The theft of their autonomy, racial pride and nationhood. The Jews have to acknowledge their fault. But they have never in their history done so.

I disagree with you that Jews have been good for Germany. On balance, that has never been so.

Have you really bought into the idea that Zionism is the problem, not Judaism? But Judaism must also be the problem because you say Christianity is somehow responsible for Judaism and that: “Without Christianity, the Jewish Stone Age religion would long since have disappeared.” So the “Stone Age religion” is a problem, but how can it be the fault of Christianity? That is just another way to blame “us” instead of “them.” This I see as the biggest problem and the most common “trick” that Jews play on us. You seem to accept the idea that, one way or another, it’s always our fault at bottom. Yet, Christians have never been “sick” in the way of the Jews, except when we become overly “judaized” like the Christian Zionists and some Baptists.

You do go on to say that Jews have been made mentally sick by their own ideology. That is what “Defamation” shows us and it’s true. We are not in any way responsible for that sickness, and we cannot heal it … what a mistake to think we can. That again is the “trick” that gets us blaming ourselves every time. The damage this has done to us is beyond measuring. Today, Jews are flourishing as never before while we — I will call us Germans and White people rather than “Gentiles,” the Jews’ word for us — are perishing from their actions, based on their pure self-interest, against us. They have no pity. They are in charge, not us. Reaching out to make friends with them will do nothing to stop them.

Germar, you have a life to build with your American family so I understand everything you say from that perspective. You deserve to have whatever you want. All best wishes to you. It looks like we’re going to be hearing from you again, and that can only be good.

Grass doesn’t make an “argument” at all. Wiesel proves he is not an artist in the fullest sense by not taking the poem as a poem: It expresses agitation and concern about Israel’s push to attack Iran. Better yet, that the US should do it for them. Wiesel is just another would be artist corrupted by the vilest of dogmas, Zionism. He is a strutting imposter. And where is the tattoo, anyway?

I knew all along, growing up and reading Wiesel and being moved but irritated as well. I knew there was something wrong about this sanctimonious creep. Sociopathic creep.

I agree entirely with Germar Rudolf: Israelis (and Jews generally, like myself) have been “made sick” with paranoia and persecution fantasies. Because of it, thousands of Arabs, men, women and children have had to die. Zionism gave “legs” to Jewish paranoia, saying it could provide relief by building a state. Does it provide relief? Nothing in current events suggests that the Israelis are the “cured” Jews. Nothing. The sickness is still deep and clawing. Rather, Israel has placed Jews at risk all over the world through its repulsive, unacceptable behavior vis-a-vis everyone in the neighborhood and Arabs who are citizens of that blighted state. The only choice for America now is to DUMP ISRAEL altogether. As a Jew, I do pray daily that G*d will help Americans see thru the lies and distortions of Israel and withdraw support so that Israel has to make a peace with its neighbors.
